Mapping

The Sureshotgps difference

Walking the course

Sureshotgps has made a commitment to accurate mapping ensured by walking the course.

Priding itself on the accuracy of courses, including keeping up to date with amendments, Sureshotgps employs dedicated professional mappers who physically walk the courses to obtain exact maps and ensure amendments are recorded.

Some golf GPS companies often choose to use a method of mapping which usually involves Google Earth or geotagging software. While this is cheaper, it relies heavily on the accuracy and currency of the satellite maps which can sometimes be questionable.

There is simply no other way to get sub meter accuracy on every course other than by taking the time to physically walk it.

The technology

Once courses are downloaded onto your Sureshotgps, GPS or Global Positioning System uses a network of satellites that provide accurate locations here on earth. Each GPS satellite sends continuous signals to Earth which the Sureshotgps collects signals from (an average of 12 GPS satellites) then calculates its distance to each satellite (via measuring the transit time of each signal) and determines its exact position on the ground. From here, the Sureshotgps determines its distance in relation to the points on the golf courses mapped and loaded into the unit to show the golfer accurate, live distances.

Up to date database

Whilst it might be handy to have courses preloaded onto your new GPS unit, the only way to ensure maps are current and up to date is via a live map database.

Golf courses often make changes to their course layout; these changes can be easily added to our map database and made instantly available to you.

We will even send you an email notification of your courses amendment so you are always up to date.

GPS units with pre loaded courses can often include recently renovated golf courses that may not be accurately represented on the map at the time of purchase. It can take up to 12 months for Google Earth to update – couple this with the time between manufacture to the time the product sits on the retailers shelf to the time it's actually in your hands on the golf course. Whether the golf course is mapped via walking the course or google maps –a pre loaded course means there is a good chance it is not current.

Largest map database

Boasting the largest golf course database in Australia, we have over 1000 Australian maps and 15,000 maps available worldwide.

If there is a map you cannot find then simply email us requesting your course be mapped and we will endeavor to have it mapped and available for download as soon as possible Request a course
